Fracture Care
Fracture Care
A fracture, commonly known as a broken bone, can happen after a fall, sports injury, accident, direct impact, or sudden twist. Fractures can range from small, stable cracks in the bone to more complex injuries that require careful evaluation and treatment planning.
At Suwanee Orthopedic Care, Dr. Nader C. Ghazal provides prompt orthopedic evaluation for many fracture-related concerns. With extensive experience in orthopedics, Dr. Ghazal evaluates bone injuries with a careful, detailed approach to help patients understand the severity of their injury and the next appropriate step.
Our office offers same-day appointments, walk-in availability, on-site X-rays when needed, and fracture support options such as casting, splinting, and bracing when appropriate. This helps many patients receive timely orthopedic care in one convenient office setting.
Understanding Fracture Care
A fracture occurs when a bone is cracked, broken, or disrupted due to force or stress. Some fractures happen suddenly after an injury, while others may develop from repetitive stress or weakened bone.
Fractures can affect many areas of the body, including the wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, foot, ribs, and other bones. Symptoms may include pain, swelling, bruising, tenderness, difficulty moving the injured area, difficulty bearing weight, or visible deformity.
Because fracture symptoms can sometimes look similar to a sprain or strain, proper orthopedic evaluation is important. An X-ray and physical exam can help determine whether a bone injury is present and whether the fracture appears stable, displaced, or in need of additional care.
Experienced Orthopedic Evaluation for Fractures
Fracture care requires more than simply identifying a broken bone. It requires understanding the location of the fracture, alignment of the bone, stability of the injury, joint involvement, soft tissue swelling, and how the injury may affect long-term function.
Dr. Ghazal carefully evaluates fracture-related injuries to help determine the most appropriate course of care. His orthopedic experience allows him to assess the injury, explain the findings clearly, and guide patients through the next step based on their symptoms, X-rays, medical history, and activity level.
For many patients, early evaluation can help reduce delays, prevent worsening symptoms, and support a safer recovery process.
When Should You See a Doctor for a Possible Fracture?
You should consider being evaluated if you are experiencing:
- Pain after a fall, twist, accident, or direct injury
- Swelling, bruising, or tenderness over a bone
- Difficulty walking, standing, gripping, lifting, or using the injured area
- Pain that worsens with movement or pressure
- Inability to bear weight after an injury
- A popping or cracking sensation at the time of injury
- Visible deformity or abnormal positioning
- Pain that does not improve with rest
- Concern that a sprain may actually be a fracture
- An injury in a child, older adult, or high-risk patient
On-Site X-Rays for Fracture Evaluation
When appropriate, Suwanee Orthopedic Care can perform on-site X-rays to help evaluate possible fractures. X-rays may help identify broken bones, alignment changes, joint involvement, bone displacement, arthritis, and other orthopedic concerns.
Casting, Splinting, and Bracing
Depending on the type and severity of the injury, fracture care may involve immobilization to help protect the injured bone or joint while it heals.
Suwanee Orthopedic Care provides casting, splinting, and bracing when appropriate. These options may help stabilize the injured area, limit painful motion, reduce the risk of further injury, and support the healing process.
Because every fracture is different, Dr. Ghazal will determine the appropriate form of support based on the injury location, X-ray findings, alignment, swelling, symptoms, and overall treatment needs.

Fracture Care vs. the Emergency Room
Not every suspected fracture requires a hospital emergency room visit. Many closed fractures, minor breaks, and injury-related bone concerns can be evaluated in an orthopedic office with an exam and X-rays.
However, some injuries require emergency medical care. You should go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you have an open fracture, bone visible through the skin, severe deformity, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of circulation, numbness, severe trauma, head injury, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or signs of a medical emergency.
If your injury is not life-threatening but you are concerned about a possible fracture, Suwanee Orthopedic Care may be able to help with same-day or walk-in orthopedic evaluation.
What to Expect During a Fracture Care Visit
During your visit, Dr. Ghazal will review how the injury happened, examine the injured area, assess pain, swelling, motion, and function, and determine whether X-rays are needed.
Because every fracture is different, recommendations depend on the location of the injury, X-ray findings, fracture stability, alignment, symptoms, medical history, swelling, and activity needs. When appropriate, care may include casting, splinting, bracing, follow-up monitoring, or additional imaging or referral if needed.
Our goal is to help identify the injury clearly, explain the findings in understandable terms, and recommend the next appropriate step for care.
