PRP Injections

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is an orthopedic injection option that uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to support the body’s natural healing response. PRP may be considered for certain tendon, ligament, joint, and soft tissue conditions.

At Suwanee Orthopedic Care, Dr. Nader C. Ghazal provides PRP evaluation and injection-based care for many orthopedic concerns, including tendon irritation, chronic joint pain, arthritis-related symptoms, sports injuries, and overuse conditions.

Our office offers same-day appointments, walk-in availability, on-site X-rays, and PRP consultations, helping patients receive orthopedic evaluation and care in one convenient visit.

Understanding PRP

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. Platelets are cells in the blood that contain growth factors and proteins involved in the body’s natural healing process.

During a PRP procedure, a small amount of the patient’s blood is drawn and processed to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich portion. The PRP is then injected into the targeted area being treated.

Because PRP comes from your own blood, it is considered an autologous treatment, meaning it uses your body’s own cells. Dr. Ghazal will evaluate your symptoms, diagnosis, exam findings, and imaging to determine whether PRP may be a reasonable option for your condition.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Conditions That May Be Evaluated for PRP

PRP may be considered for several orthopedic conditions depending on the patient’s diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment goals. Dr. Ghazal evaluates many PRP-related concerns, including:

✓ Tendonitis and tendon irritation
✓ Chronic tendon pain
✓ Tennis elbow
✓ Golfer’s elbow
✓ Rotator cuff-related pain
✓ Shoulder tendon irritation
✓ Knee arthritis and osteoarthritis
✓ Hip, shoulder, or ankle joint pain

✓ Ligament sprains
✓ Sports-related injuries
✓ Overuse injuries
✓ Soft tissue inflammation
✓ Chronic or recurring orthopedic pain
✓ Pain that has not improved with conservative care

PRP for Joint Pain and Arthritis

PRP may be considered for selected patients with joint pain or arthritis-related symptoms. In some cases, patients with knee arthritis, shoulder pain, hip pain, or other joint concerns may be evaluated to determine whether PRP fits their condition and goals.

Because arthritis severity can vary, Dr. Ghazal may use your exam findings, symptoms, X-rays, and medical history to determine whether PRP is a reasonable option or whether another treatment approach may be recommended.

PRP for Tendon and Sports Injuries

Tendon irritation and sports-related overuse injuries can sometimes become chronic or slow to improve. PRP may be considered for selected tendon and soft tissue conditions, including tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, rotator cuff-related pain, and other overuse injuries.

For active patients, athletes, and recreational exercisers, PRP evaluation can help determine whether this type of injection-based care may fit the injury, activity level, and recovery goals.

What to Expect During a PRP Consultation

During your visit, Dr. Ghazal will review your symptoms, medical history, prior treatments, activity level, and goals. He will examine the affected area, assess motion, tenderness, strength, stability, and function, and review imaging or order X-rays if needed.

If PRP is recommended, Dr. Ghazal will explain the process, the targeted area, and what to expect before and after the injection.

Because every orthopedic condition is different, PRP recommendations depend on your diagnosis, exam findings, imaging results, severity of symptoms, medical history, prior treatments, and activity goals.
