Joint Injections
Orthopedic Injections
Joint pain, arthritis, inflammation, and spine-related pain can make it difficult to walk, exercise, work, sleep, or perform normal daily activities. When pain is related to arthritis, swelling, inflammation, nerve irritation, or certain orthopedic conditions, injections may be considered as part of a personalized care plan.
At Suwanee Orthopedic Care, Dr. Nader C. Ghazal provides orthopedic evaluation and injection-based care for many joint and spine-related conditions, including arthritis, bursitis-type pain, tendon irritation, back pain, neck pain, sciatica-type symptoms, and chronic or recurring joint discomfort.
Our office offers same-day appointments, walk-in availability, on-site X-rays, and orthopedic injections, helping many patients receive evaluation and care in one convenient visit.
Types of Injections We Offer
Suwanee Orthopedic Care offers several injection options depending on the patient’s diagnosis and symptoms, including:
✓ Cortisone injections
✓ Hyaluronic acid injections
✓ Viscosupplementation injections
✓ Gel injections for knee arthritis
✓ Bursa injections
✓ Soft tissue injections
✓ Back injections
✓ Epidural steroid injections
Cortisone Injections
Cortisone injections are commonly used to help reduce inflammation and pain in certain orthopedic conditions. They may be considered for arthritis, bursitis-type pain, tendon irritation, joint inflammation, swelling, and other painful musculoskeletal conditions.
Dr. Ghazal will determine whether a cortisone injection is recommended based on your symptoms, exam findings, medical history, and diagnosis.
Viscosupplementation and Hyaluronic Acid Injections
Viscosupplementation, also known as hyaluronic acid injection therapy, is commonly used for knee arthritis and osteoarthritis-related knee pain. Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like substance that helps support joint lubrication and cushioning.
At Suwanee Orthopedic Care, Dr. Ghazal offers hyaluronic acid injection options, including commonly used viscosupplementation products such as Synvisc-One, Monovisc, Orthovisc, and similar gel injection therapies.
Back Injections and Epidural Steroid Injections
For certain back and neck pain conditions, Dr. Ghazal may evaluate patients for back injections, including epidural steroid injections.
Epidural steroid injections may be considered for selected patients with symptoms such as radiating back pain, sciatica-type pain, pinched nerve-type symptoms, or pain traveling into the hip, buttock, leg, shoulder, or arm.
Understanding Orthopedic Injections
Orthopedic injections may be used to help address pain, inflammation, joint irritation, and certain spine-related symptoms. They may be considered for selected conditions affecting the knees, shoulders, hips, elbows, wrists, hands, ankles, feet, back, neck, or other painful areas.
Before recommending an injection, Dr. Ghazal evaluates your symptoms, performs a physical exam, reviews your medical history, and may use imaging such as X-rays. This helps determine whether an injection is the right next step and which type may best fit your condition.
When Should You Ask About Orthopedic Injections?
You may want to ask about orthopedic injections if you are experiencing:
- Persistent or recurring joint pain
- Arthritis-related knee, shoulder, hip, hand, wrist, ankle, or foot pain
- Joint swelling, stiffness, or inflammation
- Limited range of motion
- Knee arthritis pain being considered for gel injections
- Back or neck pain with radiating symptoms
- Sciatica-type pain
- Pinched nerve-type symptoms
- Pain that has not improved with rest or conservative care
- Pain that interferes with work, sleep, exercise, or daily activity
On-Site X-Rays Before Orthopedic Injections
Suwanee Orthopedic Care offers on-site X-rays to help evaluate joint, back, neck, or injury-related pain before considering an injection. X-rays may help identify arthritis, joint space narrowing, bone spurs, alignment changes, fractures, degenerative changes, and other orthopedic concerns.
Having X-rays available in the office allows Dr. Ghazal to better understand the affected area and determine whether an injection may be recommended.
What to Expect During an Injection Visit
During your visit, Dr. Ghazal will review your symptoms, examine the affected area, assess motion, tenderness, swelling, strength, nerve-related symptoms, and function, and determine whether X-rays or additional imaging may be needed.
If an injection is recommended, Dr. Ghazal will explain the injection type, the reason it is being considered, and the next step based on your diagnosis.
