Knee Pain Treatment

Knee pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek orthopedic care. It can make it difficult to walk, climb stairs, exercise, work, sleep, or enjoy normal daily activities.

At Suwanee Orthopedic Care, Dr. Nader C. Ghazal evaluates many common causes of knee pain, including arthritis, sprains, strains, sports injuries, meniscus-type pain, tendon irritation, swelling, and injury-related knee problems.

Our office offers same-day appointments, walk-in availability, and on-site X-rays when needed, helping many patients receive answers and treatment recommendations in one convenient visit.

Understanding Knee Pain

The knee is one of the largest and most important joints in the body. It connects the thigh bone, shin bone, and kneecap, and plays a major role in walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs, and running.

The location of your knee pain can provide important clues about what may be causing your symptoms. Pain may occur in the front of the knee, known as anterior knee pain; along the inside of the knee, known as medial knee pain; along the outside of the knee, known as lateral knee pain; or behind the knee, known as posterior knee pain.

Knee pain may affect one knee, called unilateral knee pain, or both knees, called bilateral knee pain. Some patients may also notice swelling, stiffness, popping, catching, weakness, instability, or difficulty bending and straightening the knee.

When Should You See a Doctor for Knee Pain?

You should consider being evaluated if you are experiencing:

  • Persistent or worsening knee pain
  • Swelling that does not improve
  • Pain after a fall, twist, or sports injury
  • Difficulty walking or bearing weight
  • Pain with standing, bending, stairs, or exercise
  • Knee locking, catching, popping, or instability
  • Limited range of motion
  • Trouble straightening or bending the knee
  • Pain that interferes with work, sleep, or daily activity

On-Site X-Rays for Knee Pain

When appropriate, Suwanee Orthopedic Care can perform on-site X-rays to help evaluate knee pain. X-rays may help identify arthritis, fractures, joint space narrowing, bone spurs, alignment issues, and other orthopedic concerns.

Having X-rays available in the office allows many patients to get a clearer understanding of their condition without unnecessary delays.
